Good way to save a bit of money on Netflix plans

Plan: Online streaming + 1 DVD

Normally 3 months at Netflix is 9.99 + tax per month.

Buy the Best Buy gift card. There's no tax and you can get Reward Zone points (maybe? not sure if this applies for gifts) and/or cash back 2.4% http://home.bigcrumbs.com/joegolo or 5% cash back if you've got a Discover card using Shop Discover.

Apply the gift membership in Netflix account settings. For me it shows my current plan is 11.99 (9.99 + 2 blu ray upgrade). The gift shows up as 9.99 a month, not 8.99.

For me it's enough to cover ~2.5 months. I owe $6 on the last month. But that $6 is charged tax:

Not a lot, but a good way to save $1 (10%) and tax (8.75%)!!!!

I think it can apply to other plans too and basically they reduce your bill subtotal by 9.99 per month
