Funny Japanese Monkey and Dog Video
Salmon!!!
Step 1:

Marinate the slab of salmon in lemon* juice (not lime!), a dash of sesame oil, garlic powder (not garlic salt!), ground pepper, oregano, and rosemary. Let sit.
*Tip: To get the most juice of out your lemon, microwave a lemon for about 10-15 seconds.
Step 2:

Cook a package of Rice-a-Roni "Long Grain & Wild Rice" per package instructions. Should take about 25 minutes.
Step 3: Preheat a toaster oven at 350 degrees F. If you have a timer, set it about 20 minutes. This should also be around the time when your rice will almost finish cooking.

Prepare a small baking pan as shown. Lay a bed of parmesan cheese in a generous pool of lemon juice.

Put the slab of salmon on and smear on some butter. Be sure to pour on the remaining marinade over it. Sprinkle parmesan cheese around the salmon generously (it will absorb the juices and prevent the edges of the salmon from drying out and burning).
Insert into toaster oven.
Step 4: Put a pot of water on the stove. Add a dash of salt and bring to boil.

Add asparagus and let cook for about 2-3 minutes.
Step 5:

After about 20 minutes, the fish should look like this. Notice the protective cheese moat around the fish.
Step 6: Prepare the dinner plate

Add a light dash of salt on the asparagus.
Make another bed of parmesan cheese and lemon juice on which to set the fish. The hot fish will melt the cheese.
By now, the rice should be finishing up!

Add a lemon wedge (to squeeze on later) and dash some pepper on the fish and you're done!
This meal is probably more aesthetically pleasing if you make it look more sparse; the mound of rice can be kept on the side and the asparagus placed more delicately.

Sun Jar Step by Step Assembly

The garden solar lights actually come in parts that you assemble at home. Tis is the only part that you care about. Top view of the solar panel.

This is what the bottom of the light looks like. Tiny single LED light.

You need to gut the actual components out of the black plastic shell. The easiest way I found to do this was to use two small screwdrivers to pop the innards out.

The panel will conveniently dangle around afterwards because the support is no longer there.

Trust me, you want to use an X-acto knife for this. I used scissors for the first one and it was annoying. I even went back and cleaned up the prototype using the X-acto knife I bought. Make sure you use cardboard or something underneath in case you cut through.

Rather than cutting completely through with the knife, etch until you have a nice crevice and simply bend the plastic.

If there's something holding the circuit board in place, like on mine, take care to cut all ties to the plastic and carefully remove the board.

Repeat the processes until all unnecessary plastic has been removed. My battery holder is built into the plastic holder, so I cut around it.

You should now have only the electrical components and the plastic battery holder.

Use some electrical tape or whatever you want to rig the whole thing together to make it stable. I've taped the battery down to the back of the solar panel.

Tape didn't seem to hold the panels well enough to the lid of the jar. I went with super glue, and it's been holding up quite nicely. A downside though, is that all part of the glue that's exposed to air gets a whitish color to it. There's special glass super glue that dries clear that can be found at craft stores.
That's it! Feel free to decorate the jar however you'd like. I went looking for some glass frosting today to give it a hazy look, but the store didn't have any -_- You can check out all the pics on my Picasa album.

Find Out an Approximation of Your IQ in 15 Minutes!
Take the test here
General statistics
Total number of questions: 30
Questions answered: 28
Questions not answered: 2
Questions answered correctly: 26
Questions answered incorrectly: 4
Percentage correct answers: 86 %
Your age adjusted IQ score is 129 and the average score for all test takers is 100.
Your Grade ** Above Average **
Well done! Your score was above average and within two standard deviations of the mean score (top 85 to 97.73% of the population) Typically, people with scores in this range can see logic in their surroundings and perform very well academically. You like to conceptualize ideas and gather your own information which means that you have the brains to go far. You should be able to handle all academic challenges and if you think of intelligence as an ability to adapt adequately to new situations then you are heading in the right direction.

The bell curve (also called a "normal curve" or "normal distribution") is a graph that shows approximately how much of the population falls into each IQ range. In theory, if we tested everyone in the world with a traditional IQ test, most people would score in the "Average" range. A smaller number would score moderately below average and moderately above average. Very high and very low scores are rare.
The scores and percentiles above apply to tests that have a standard deviation of 15 points. The Stanford Binet Fourth Edition (Binet FE) has a standard deviation of 16 and the Wechsler scales (such as the WPPSI-R, the WISC-III, and the WAIS-III) have a standard deviation of 15. Therefore, for different scales the percentages may vary.
Click here to convert your score to the Cattell and Stanford-Binet scale.

A Syrian-born airline pilot allegedly tricked a schoolteacher from Haverfordwest into having sex with him by pretending he had to administer ointment on the end of his penis, a jury heard yesterday (Tuesday).
Fadi Sbano, 38, even pretended to know a gynaecologist who advised him on how often to have intercourse with her and whether to thrust "slowly or quickly". And, on the "doctor's advice", he kept a clock on the bedside table to time the sessions.

Sun/Moon Jar!

Well, this is more like a prototype. I must say though, I am very pleased with how it came out. It took a bit of effort, but it was actually quite easy. If it weren't for the shitty quality wires coming out of the circuit board it would've been no problem at all. I'm still thinking about glass frosting and an amber LED or amber cellophane. I bought two jars from IKEA so I'll make the other one this weekend with some more steps!

Clocky
The alarm clock that runs away and hides when you don't wake up. Clocky gives you one chance to get up. But if you snooze, Clocky will jump off of your nightstand and wheel around your room looking for a place to hide. Clocky is kind of like a misbehaving pet, only he will get up at the right time.
- Set your snooze time, 0-9 min
- Snooze once before he runs away
- Choose 0 and he runs right away
- Can jump from up to 3 feet
- Moves on wood and carpet
- Press snooze to view time at night
- Screen flashes when beeping/running
- Alarm beeps in random pattern
- Clocky is small: 5.25" x 3.5" x 3.5"
- Want him to stay put? Disable wheels.
- Early low battery warning
- Colors: almond white, aqua and mint and soon in mustard orange!

At ~$3.75 it was even cheaper than just the bare bones solar parts online so I just had to get it. Guess I've committed myself to this project =X Stay tuned...

I was looking through some of my old Stumbles, and came across the Ring Faucet. This is a different way of looking at faucets that's really kool. Since the area the water comes out is really just metal, why always have it a long hose looking thing?? Great idea, IKEA should steal it and make it available to the masses.. hehehe

Simple Cooking Part San

Okie, so this one isn't as easy as the others, but it's still pretty simple! I had absolutely no groceries at home, so I dropped by the market today after work. I was actually planning to make 4 dishes, but after two I was pretty tired hehe =P You guys won't fault me for that right?? I'll make the other two later on this week. Okie on to the different dishes.
Baby Bok Choy with Shrimp
Ingredients:
Baby Bok Choy
Garlic
Chicken Bouillon (One of the many random seasonings I have that I use frequently)
Oyster Sauce
Shrimp
Ginger
Originally this dish was going to be just veggies, but my dad defrosted a box of shrimp today morning, so I figured I might as well use a couple. I hate peeling shrimp.. I enjoy the taste, but usually I'm too lazy to peel it to eat.
I heated a pan and added olive oil, I actually don't have regular corn/veg oil at home, so my cooking always uses olive. Once the oil is properly heated, add the sliced garlic and let it brown, allowing the flavors to come out. Before it burns add in the chopped Baby Bok Choy. Be careful of oil popping on you, it stings >_< cooked ="\" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capsaicin#Food">capsaicin. Removing it will give you a spicy, but not fiery, relish. By all means, if you like it hot leave the seeds and stem in. Another interesting note is that the smaller the chili, the larger the inner stem (in relation to overall size).. the higher the capsaicin concentration. That's why tiny tiny Thai chili peppers are so spicy.. and huge bell peppers are not.
To keep things simple I used a small hand chopper to chop the Cilantro and Jalapeños. Make sure that the Cilantro is already cut into manageable sizes of about 2-3 inches. You want a nice dice afterwards. Feel free to mix up the ratio of Cilantro and Jalapeño to give you a more fresh or a spicier taste. I threw in a bit of diced green onion as well. I probably used a ratio of 1:1 Sesame Oil and Soy Sauce. Salt to taste. That's pretty much it. Really easy to make and it's something different that you'll (hopefully) enjoy.
Tea Star Anise Chicken
No clue what the official name of this dish is. A friend said "Three Flavor Chicken", which it very well could be, but I'll just keep my name here for now ;)
Ingredients:
Chicken, I used drumsticks and legs
Ginger
Star Anise
Black Tea
Sugar
Soy Sauce
Sesame Oil
This would be a great dish to just throw into a slow cooker if you want. It really doesn't take that long to cook though. Mine was easily finished within an hour or so.
Place the Chicken inside a pot. Fill water until it covers the chicken. Pour in some soy sauce, make sure it's enough to turn the water black, doesn't have to be completely opaque, but you want to make sure you have enough in there to flavor the chicken and make a tasty soup/sauce.
Slice a good amount of ginger and place it in the pot; you want the chicken to be flavorful and you aren't marinating it beforehand. Go ahead and grind some pepper and salt in there to help the flavor along. I probably used around 5 or 6 Star Anise thingies. The flavor is quite potent, but again, you want something very flavorful. Don't worry, the end result isn't that salty, but is actually quite mild. About a teaspoon of Black Tea in a Tea Infuser made it easier to brew, and kept the sauce clear of little tea leaves floating everywhere.
After the mix comes to a boil once just turn it down to a simmer and let it cook. The two pieces of chicken on my plate was actually one leg. It fell apart in the middle when I picked it up! Tender.
Both pretty simple dishes, just regular Chinese cooking. I'll post up the other easy food I was going to make later on in the week.

O yah.. it was perfect with my Taiwan Beer =D

Simple Cooking Part Deux

Chinese Sausage Fried Rice
I needed something quick and easy to make for dinner, but didn't have much available at home. Here's what I had available:
Cooked Rice
Chinese Sausage
Garlic
Eggs
Green Onions ( always have these handy =P )
Sesame Oil
Sesame Seeds
Seasoning Mix I made a while back (crushed red peppers, sesame seeds, seaweed)
A great tip is that older rice works better than fresh rice. Fresh rice is just too sticky and moist to fry well. If you must use fresher rice then take the time to place the rice in the refrigerator uncapped and allow the rice to cook and dry out a bit. Another great tip to keep in mind, and something I've learned from personal experience, is that you need a VERY hot wok or frying pan so that the rice won't stick to the wok. If you have a nice non stick wok then you probably don't have to worry too much about this. My wok at home's worn out a bit and the nonstick coating is almost gone. When I fry a big batch of rice there's always sticking, so I used a smaller amount this time and it worked beautifully.
Heat the wok up and add some cooking oil. You can also add some sesame oil for a fresher nuttier flavor. Slice the garlic into thin segments and brown in wok, being careful not to let them burn. Toss in the sliced Chinese Sausage and heat thoroughly. The sausage is actually precooked, so you're really just heating it up and letting it fry a bit.
Add the rice and quickly start mixing it up to quickly cook. After a minute or so add a couple of eggs and once again quickly mix. This is the reason why a HOT wok is crucial. If there's too much rice or not enough heat then the rice becomes soggy. If you have a good temperature going on the egg will cook while you mix and you'll be left with egg evenly scrambled with all your rice. It's probably a good time to add some salt or pepper to taste.
Lower the heat to medium I'd say, and add in any extras you like. I added sliced green onions, sesame seeds, my seasoning mix, a bit more sesame oil, and I think some chili oil I forgot haha.

Delicious to eat by itself, scrumptious to eat with other dishes.

Simple Cooking Part Ichi
I made this a couple of weeks ago when I first started my THREE WEEK root canal procedure -_- and I really couldn't eat too much of jack. You can make this with anything you have handy, which is what I basically did.
1 cup of rice
couple of eggs
green onions
bulgogi
ground turkey
chicken bouillon/broth
I made the bulgogi in a separate pan from some frozen marinated bulgogi that I had available in the freezer. In a separate pot I took a cup of rice and rinsed it briefly. After that I filled up the pot with water and let it come to a boil, then allowed it to simmer. I used fresh ground pepper, white pepper, and a rosemary garlic seasoning to flavor my congee =) I threw in the left over ground turkey that I had from my mabo tofu ramen as well as the chicken bouillon. Once the congee started to get thick enough I tossed in a couple of eggs to slow cook. I wanted the eggs to be a little runny so I tried not to cook them too much. After I felt it was about done I slivered a stalk of green onions and mixed it all together.
Bulgogi on top and done!

World's Second Richest Man: Mexican
A Mexican telecoms tycoon has become the second richest man in the world, pushing US investment guru Warren Buffett into third place and breathing down the neck of Microsoft founder Bill Gates.Carlos Slim Helu quietly slipped past Buffett at the end of last month thanks to his rising stock, and was valued at the close of trade Wednesday at 53.1 billion dollars, 700 million dollars more than Buffett, Forbes.com reported Wednesday.
Now only Gates, valued as the richest man in the world for the last 13 years, is ahead of Slim.
And while slim may be catching up, Gates, who stepped aside as Microsoft chief in 2000 to devote his energies to the philanthropic foundation he runs with his wife Melinda, is still sitting on a nest egg of 56 billion dollars.
Slim, 67, has added a staggering 23 billion dollars to his personal fortune over the last 14 months, thanks largely to a strong Mexican economy and a stock market that jumped nearly 50 percent last year.
He accrued four billion dollars of that just since Forbes unveiled its annual rich list in early March, giving Slim the equivalent of roughly seven percent of Mexico's annual economic output, according to Forbes.
The tycoon has brushed off criticism that his Telmex company is effectively a monopoly, saying earlier this year: "When you live for others' opinions, you are dead. I don't want to live thinking about how I'll be remembered."
He has derided Gates and Buffett for giving away so much of their wealth, reportedly saying: "Poverty isn't solved with donations," according to Forbes.
Building businesses, he reportedly said, did more for society than "going around like Santa Claus."

Different Type of Hamster Shredding

A skip of rubbish lol, I wonder why we don't talk like that...
A lucky hamster has escaped virtually unscathed after passing through an industrial shredder.
The animal is thought to have found its way into a skip of rubbish that arrived at a recycling plant in Flintshire, north Wales.
He passed along a conveyor belt and then through a giant shredder, which can tear a cooker or washing machine to pieces in seconds.
He then survived a rotating drum and vibrating grids before he was discovered in a sorting area by astonished staff, who named him Mike.
The ordeal, which probably lasted around four minutes, left the rodent with nothing more than a sore foot.

ImageBot basically adds functionality to the right click menu, allowing me to right click on an image and upload it to Image Shack. It'll automatically upload the images and provide you a URL, which you can conveniently right click and copy, for quick insertion. For some reason it usually uploads these two Firefox icons though.. EDIT: Maybe it only uploads those Firefox images once? Now when I do it I don't seem to get them anymore...
ScribeFire sits at the bottom of your Firefox window and you can click the icon to expand the window for posting. I usually get an odd nbsp; after I post though. To fix it I'll post and then go back and edit, then post as an edit. I don't like how they handle images as much as the actual Blogger site though. All in the name of convenience =P

Perhaps you've experienced that sinking feeling when a single keystroke accidentally destroys hours of work.
